Philippi-based Junxion Kickboxing and Boxing Academy may not have come away with all the wins over the weekend, but no one can question the grit their fighters showed or the steady improvements they continue to make.

The academy, together with its long-standing partners in combat, Vibrant Gym, formed part of the Judgement Day-themed PFC Promotions event in Camps Bay.

The two gyms have built a solid partnership over time, often sharing corner duties and offering mutual support during fight nights. This was again the case at the weekend as their fighters stepped into the ring for K1 and boxing fights.

Leading the charge was Yandisa Ngqwarhu, who featured in the main supporting bout of the evening, a professional K1 clash against Jean-Claude Dixon. It was a grueling three-round war that left both fighters visibly spent, but Ngqwarhu edged it on the judges' scorecards, earning a well-deserved victory in a high-intensity contest.

Junxion's Ashley Hardenberg goes for a high kick against Kuhle Miso.

Ashley Hardenberg, competing in a pro-am K1 bout, faced off against Kuhle Miso. Despite a spirited performance, Hardenberg dropped a narrow split decision. A point deduction during the fight proved costly and could have swung the result had it not occurred, especially given how closely matched the bout was.

Vibrant Sport's Anoyolo Gwija clashed with Ismaeel Booley at PFC promotions event at the weekend.

Anoyolo Gwija met Ismaeel Booley for the third time in what has become a familiar rivalry. After winning their previous two encounters, this time it was Booley who came out on top, gaining a measure of redemption and leveling the emotional stakes between the two fighters.

Junxion’s only boxer on the card, Lukhanyo Mayaya, delivered a composed and strategic performance against Pierre Boisacq on his way to a decision win. Junxion and Vibrant secured two out of four wins at the event, but definitely left their mark with their high-level fighters.

Lukhanyo Mayaya won his fight on points against Pierre Boisacq.
