Hamiltons continued their strong run in the Cape Town Softball Federation's first division with a 13–0 victory over Pirates on Wednesday night at Turfall Stadium.
This marked Hamiltons' fourth win of the season and kept them firmly on the heels of log-leading Devonshire.
The midweek result sees Hamiltons sitting second in the eight-team log, three points behind the leaders.
While women’s softball dominates the weekend programme due to the higher number of teams and divisions, the men’s competition is contested on Wednesday evenings and has produced tight battles at the top of the standings.
Hamiltons are not alone in the hunt for first place. Tantasport remains level on points with Hamiltons, keeping the pressure on as the season heads toward its business end.
Pirates, meanwhile, suffered their third defeat from six outings and will be looking to regroup in their remaining fixtures.
Devonshire remain the only unbeaten side in the division, with their sole blemish a draw from six matches.
At the bottom of the table, Albertons have struggled for consistency, managing just one win from six games. Excel Dodgers are still searching for their first victory after five matches, having settled for two draws.
With the league expected to conclude before the end of March, teams are now jockeying for favourable seeding ahead of the knockout finals.
